New York & Amsterdam: Dawnguard has publicly launched its security architecture automation platform, enabling organizations to design, build, and operate secure cloud-native systems from day zero through production.
Alongside the public availability of the platform, Dawnguard announced the opening of its New York City office and secured an additional $3.3 million in pre-seed funding, bringing its total funding to more than $6.3 million.
The latest investment comes from existing investor BNVT Capital in the UK, with new participation from Curiosity VC in the Netherlands and eCAPITAL in Germany.
The company said the funding will support product development, AI-driven architecture intelligence, enterprise go-to-market expansion, and international growth.
The public launch marks Dawnguard’s transition from enterprise design partnerships into general availability after a year of platform development and customer validation.
Addressing security risks at the design stage
As AI-assisted engineering continues to accelerate software development, cybersecurity teams are increasingly facing risks that emerge much earlier in the software lifecycle than traditional security tools are designed to detect.
According to Dawnguard, while cybersecurity has made significant advances in detecting, alerting, and responding to threats after systems are built, modern software environments have become increasingly complex, dynamic, and influenced by AI-generated code and autonomous engineering workflows.
The company believes that despite continued investment in cybersecurity tools, many breaches still originate from architectural weaknesses, insecure configurations, and design decisions that cannot simply be resolved through patching.
Dawnguard was established with the belief that cybersecurity should move beyond reactive security models and instead begin with secure architecture from the earliest stages of system design.
“Cybersecurity has become trapped in an endless cycle of detection, response, and patching,” said Mahdi Abdulrazak, CEO and Co-Founder of Dawnguard.
“For twenty years, security was something you added later. That model was already fragile. Today, against an attacker running at machine speed, it becomes increasingly indefensible. When probing is continuous and cheap, the only thing that holds is what was designed correctly from the start.”

Introducing security architecture automation for the Mythos Era
Dawnguard describes the current technological landscape as the Mythos Era, where AI, autonomous systems, and increasingly complex digital infrastructure are evolving faster than conventional cybersecurity processes can manage.
According to the company, security teams are dealing with thousands of alerts, fragmented security tools, and continuous patch cycles, while attackers increasingly exploit weaknesses embedded within system architecture.
To address these challenges, Dawnguard’s platform converts secure architecture into deployable infrastructure. The platform enables organizations to:
- Design secure and compliant cloud architectures before deployment.
- Automatically generate production-ready Infrastructure as Code.
- Continuously validate that deployed environments remain aligned with approved architectural designs.
- Eliminate security drift between architectural intent and operational reality.
- Enable engineering and security teams to collaborate through a shared architecture workspace.
The company said its platform is designed to bridge the gap between security intent and operational implementation by allowing architectural designs to be validated, translated into enforceable infrastructure, and continuously monitored as systems evolve.
Unlike traditional cybersecurity products that primarily detect vulnerabilities after deployment, Dawnguard focuses on preventing insecure architectural patterns before they are introduced, extending secure-by-design principles throughout the production lifecycle.
Dawnguard: Founded by experienced cybersecurity professionals
Dawnguard was founded by cybersecurity veterans from IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, and military cyber operations.
The company said it was created to challenge the industry’s dependence on reactive security practices and compliance-focused approaches.
Since emerging from stealth, Dawnguard has expanded its platform capabilities, strengthened integrations across cloud environments, and collaborated with enterprise design partners to bring security architecture automation into production environments.
The company said the newly secured funding will accelerate continued product innovation, AI-powered architecture intelligence, enterprise expansion, and international growth.
“Every engineering team understands the gap between what was designed and what ultimately gets deployed,” said Kim van Lavieren, CTO and Co-Founder of Dawnguard.
“That gap is where risk lives. Dawnguard closes the distance between intent and reality by turning architecture into enforceable code, continuously validating that systems remain aligned with their original security design. Security should not exist in documents, spreadsheets, or diagrams. It should exist in the systems themselves.”
Dawnguard’s long-term vision
Looking ahead, Dawnguard said its vision extends beyond improving existing security workflows. The company aims to establish security architecture as a foundational control layer for modern digital systems, integrating security, compliance, cost management, resilience, sustainability, performance, and operational excellence into infrastructure and application layers from their initial design.
As organizations continue operating in what the company calls the Mythos Era, Dawnguard believes cybersecurity will increasingly focus on systems that are secure by design, continuously validated, and capable of adapting to an increasingly autonomous digital environment.
